The Well as a Patient

Since 2013 Watson Oncology has helped doctors offer cancer patients individualized treatments.

Today IBM is training Watson to help improve the performance of Oil and Gas wells. The patients are now called wells, the doctors are replaced by engineers, and symptoms manifest themselves as corrosion, scale build-up, pressure loss or increase water production. Training Watson to solve hydrocarbon problems is similar to how we trained the technology to help in the field of oncology.
