SAO PAULO — Committed to ensure its sustainable growth, Pao de Acucar, the largest retail chain in Brazil, announces a partnership with IBM to outsource its information technology (IT) infrastructure. The deal, worth about US$115 million, was designed by IBM and Pao de Acucar to meet current business needs and to support the expansion planned for the next years.

The five-year agreement will transfer two data centers of the retail chain to an IBM Global Delivery Center based in Hortolandia, Sao Paulo. Pao de Acucar will benefit from a dynamic infrastructure, capable of supporting the current growth and future mergers and acquisitions of the chain.

The contract was signed in September 2009.
