  • High technology manufacturer

Challenge: This holding company had outsourced previously with a company that went out of business. No in-house experience was available. They didn't want to invest the time and costs to build an in-house capability.

Solution: IBM provided Applications on DemandTM Full Service for Oracle 11.5.7 Financials, manufacturing, HRMS, Order Management and Shipping, plus Disaster Recovery.

Results: Eliminated need to build in-house staff. Hardware configured and environment running in less than one month. Uptime was increased over previous vendor and the service quality provided a 50% reduction in service requests.

Challenge: Wanted a functional upgrade but were dissatisfied with existing service provider. The application peformance was slow due to undersized architecture. They needed more application knowledge to support adequately.

Solution: Utilized Applications on Demand to upgrade, and then migrated to fully managed and hosted services to resolve reliability and scalability concerns.

Results: The upgrade and total migration was complete in less than 12 weeks. Downtime was reduced and performance was improved by 33 - 50% over their previous solution.

  • Small public sector commission

Challenge: Experiencing high costs to use and maintain 20-year-old legacy system. Needed application management and infrastructure management expertise to be available "on demand", rather than build experience over time using in-house resources.

Solution: They contracted for Full Service for Oracle with staged disaster recovery option managed by Applications on Demand for Financials, HR and Payroll.

Results: No upfront cash outlay for infrastructure and uptime service level agreements - initiated on a pay-as-you-go, utility-like model. Rapid deployment of hardware for development environments.

  • Higher education

Challenge: This university was on Oracle 10.7 and wanted to upgrade to 11i to add self-service functionality. They had strong functional application support but were lacking technical expertise with the new version. Also, they had a need to reduce costs.

Solution: IBM fully hosted and managed their Oracle Financials, HRMS Suite of Products, Payroll and Purchasing with Applications on Demand Full Service option.

Results: They were able to move to the new architecture and software version at their own pace with help from IBM experienced application professionals. They focused on their core functional skill set and depended on IBM for infrastructure and technical support.

  • Automotive parts manufacturer

Challenge: Wanted to implement Oracle 11i ERP suite that was dependable, economical and would entice the business units to adopt the new solution. They had a fast-paced project timeline and need to reorganize the IT structure into a centralized, shared services organization.

Solution: Implemented Oracle 11i ERP, L Class hosted and managed with Applications on Demand Full Service offering.

Results: Oracle upgrade was completed in 11 weeks with a 31% costs savings over their previous solution. Additionally, they are experiencing increased reliability on their standardized applications.
