Many of your customers today pay bills in cash through retail, bank or service company (utility, wireless, convenience store) outlets. For consumers the experience can mean long waits in line for available service personnel and errors in processing.
Organizations handling in-person bill payments also face a number of issues. Employees may accept counterfeit cash or checks; cash or checks may be stolen or lost; and manual check processing can mean funds do not reach the organization’s bank account for days or even weeks.
The IBM bill payment kiosk solution allows you to provide bill payment services to your customers using cash, credit/debit or check. For cash transactions, the kiosk accepts paper notes, validates the notes, and any overage between the dollars paid into the kiosk and the actual invoice amount is credited to the payor’s account.
For example, in the case of checks, the kiosk:
- reads the payor's check codes
- debits and credits the payor and payee banks appropriately
- returns the cancelled check
Your customers may also use credit/debit cards to transact payments, and the kiosk completes the transaction with the payor’s credit/debit card processor.
