IBM Implementation Services for System p and LPAR is designed to facilitate a quick and effective installation of virtual servers, or logical partitions (LPARs), on your new or existing System p servers. The service features onsite assistance from an IBM services specialist who can:
Conduct a planning session to discuss current hardware and software configurations and requirements
Run the LPAR validation tool to determine the recommended type of implementation
Install and configure the LPARs, including:
Configuration of the hardware management console
LPAR creation
Installation of the IBM AIX® 5L™ or supported Linux® operating system
Basic network configuration for each LPAR
Testing and verification of the LPARs
Image backups of the LPARs
Document installation and configuration activities
Provide skills transfer to your staff for routine operational activities.
This service is available for both IBM POWER5™ and newly announced IBM POWER6™ processor-based System p servers.
