Many coalition operations perform below expectations because of a collaboration gap – a mismatch between the demands of the mission and the combined capabilities of the coalition members. Defense forces can take practical steps to close this gap by understanding the factors that influence their coalition's effectiveness and by enhancing collaborative ways of working, sharing information and exploiting technology.
