SBI Sumishin Net Bank focuses
on customers with help from IBM Application Services

Japan's first full Internet bank shortens time-to-market and improves efficiency

IBM and SBI Sumishin Net Bank Build Innovation

IBM Application Services helped SBI Sumishin Net Bank, Japan's first full Internet bank, implement RER for FSS (Rapid Enterprise Renovation for Financial Services Systems), a cutting-edge, SOA-based core banking solution that includes ongoing application management to improve performance and manage costs.

A customer-centric core banking solution at the forefront of the banking and financial services industry, RER for FSS enables real-time interaction with the e-trade securities system, handles eight different currencies, account settlement service in dollars (a first for a Japanese bank), and loan simulations.

The solution helped Net Bank acquire about 45,000 customers within two months of launch. By utilizing IBM's application development capabilities, SBI was able to deliver new services faster than competitors based on the cutting-edge solution.
