IBM Implementation Services for System p and LPAR is designed to facilitate a quick and effective installation of virtual servers, or logical partitions (LPARs), on your new or existing System p servers. The service features onsite assistance from an IBM services specialist who can:
- Conduct a planning session to discuss current hardware and software configurations and requirements
- Run the LPAR validation tool to determine the recommended type of implementation
- Install and configure the LPARs, including:
- Configuration of the hardware management console
- LPAR creation
- Installation of the IBM AIX® 5L™ or supported Linux® operating system
- Basic network configuration for each LPAR
- Testing and verification of the LPARs
- Image backups of the LPARs
- Document installation and configuration activities
- Provide skills transfer to your staff for routine operational activities.
This service is available for both IBM POWER5™ and newly announced IBM POWER6™ processor-based System p servers.
