How are CIOs earning - or sustaining - the authority to help their organisations fulfil critical strategic objectives? What type of IT Support do they really need? And how are they getting the knowledge they need to drive business value and overcome IT management challenges? In a complex global environment where demand is high for creative business leaders, what are today's Chief Information Officers (CIOs) doing to remain vital, no matter what type of business they support?
For the 2011 IBM Global Chief Information Officer Study, we conducted over 3,000 face-to-face interviews - several hundred more CIO interviews than our 2009 study. CIOs in 71 countries representing 18 industries relayed their experiences, accomplishments and future plans, all in terms of the kinds of IT support their own organisations need most.
What are the different contexts in which today's CIOs operate, and how does the type of industry play a part? How can CIOs excel in any setting by delivering results against their organisations' business priorities? In a rapidly changing world where technology is a critical enabler of business success, which actions enable CIOs to have the most impact, particularly by leading innovation, capturing insights and enabling integration?
Find out how CIOs are optimising information technology on behalf of their organisations, with most required to aim beyond meeting universal, fundamental needs.
