you going to IBM is rolling out four new Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Design Centres in Austin, Beijing, Delhi, and Hursley where customers can go to put together new SOA solutions that meet their specific needs. The goal of the effort is to get the business demands to drive the technology, rather than the other way around, says IBM enterprise integration vice president Jason Weisser. The technical work will involve the creation of some new applications, but IBM encourages the reuse of existing product components, he said.

While IBM technical architects will lead the consultations, the centres will draw on IBM Global Services when necessary. The new SOA Design Centres complement IBM Global Services' SOA Centres of Excellence, which provide IBM Business Consulting Services expertise to customers wishing to realign their business processes using SOA. Those consultations, as well as recently announced IBM solutions, address vertical industry needs directly.
