IBM has recently won a number of services contracts with financial institutions worldwide. Germany's HSH Nordbank and its Plus Bank subsidiary signed a five-year, 100-million euro contract that calls on IBM to manage security, trading systems, and SAP applications. IBM will also take care of mainframe, server, and storage system infrastructure at two data centre facilities, as well as printing, postal, and archiving functions for HSH Nordbank's banking business. Banco Guipuzcoano in Spain signed IBM for a seven-year on demand data storage contract, in addition to the previous mainframe management contract signed in 1997. Bank Boston in Brazil tapped IBM to run significant portions of its IT infrastructure, including data centres, networks, security, and IT contingency services. Also in South America, Venezolano de Credito extended its business continuity contract with IBM to ensure against potential business disruptions. Copyright 2004 INFORMATION, INC. |
