IBM Daksh trying to rope in former employees

Source: The Economic Times, July 19, 2006

For IBM Daksh, its like getting back to their roots. The BPO seems to be set on an aggressive agenda of trying to get back some of the key people who were earlier associated with the company in various strategic positions particularly during the pre-acquisition days. Interestingly, after merger with the big blue IBM, Daksh had got hit by huge attrition at the top and mid-management levels, and the people who had left the company included the then CFO and the business development head. Attribute it to some strategic initiatives by the company, or just a co-incidence, while some key people who had left the company have already joined back, some others are soon expected to follow suit.

D P Singh, who was earlier heading recruitments for the company, has now joined IBM Daksh back as vice-president, strategic HR. Jagatbir Singh, who was earlier heading a tech process, is now back to the company's fold as the head of a travel process. There have been many such cases of home-coming at mid-management levels as well. However, Pawan Vaish, acting chief executive officer, IBM Daksh, denies any pro-active effort on the part of the company to woo back ex-employees. "We are always open to people who have worked with us in the past. Infact, some of them who had moved on to other companies, are now in a better position to comparatively judge us as an employer.

Coming back has been their conscious decision. On our part, we have just helped identify the new responsibilities," Mr Vaish told ET. He feels that people are now increasingly realising the growth opportunities available because of being part of the IBM behemoth. Infact, as one of the newfound retention tools, many IBM Daksh employees have been recently offered larger IBM responsibilities and Asia-Pacific roles.
