Corporate Responsibility

Reaching out to the community

IBM is proud of its involvement with a number of charities. Our people and the company itself all give freely of their time and money to support a range of good causes.

For example, we work in partnership with Prayas, a non-profit organization in the USA that promotes and supports educational and developmental efforts in India.

Prayas caters to about 50,000 neglected and deprived street children, providing health care and a helpline service. The charity also runs 12 slum-based informal educational and vocational training centers and shelter homes.

IBM's contribution to Prayas consists of:

  • Working towards the education of the under-privileged

  • Employees contribute to various Prayas welfare projects.

  • IBM sponsored ten destitute children for an initial period of one year.

  • Sponsorship money is utilized for education, health and nutrition, shelter, clothing and vocational training of sponsored children.

Our people have involved themselves in site development, working with children, education and literacy, and working with the adult community. Some of the other programs include:
  • Children's Joy Foundation
