Benefit from the migration to the IBM AIX® 5L™ operating system on the IBM System p™ virtual server environment or from the reconfiguration or addition of logical partitions (LPARs) to System p servers
IBM Migration Services for System p and LPAR is designed to help you efficiently migrate to the IBM AIX 5L operating system (OS) on the IBM System p virtual server environment or to reconfigure or add LPARs to existing System p servers. This service features onsite assistance from an IBM services specialist who can:
Conduct a migration planning session
Perform the migration of the LPARs, including preparing the Network Installation Management (NIM) server and upgrading LPARs to a supported level of the AIX 5L OS
Create and install additional LPARs, including partitioning the hardware, making updates to the NIM environment and, if applicable, installing the AIX 5L OS
Verify that the AIX 5L OS software functions properly on the specified LPARs
Create a system image backup of the specified LPARs
Provide designated personnel with basic migration function training.
This service is available for both IBM POWER5™ and newly announced IBM POWER6™ processor-based System p servers.
